Rochester, Mich. –June 21, 2018 – Ewa Matuszewski, CEO and co-founder of MedNetOne Health Solutions (MedNetOne), a health care management organization offering infrastructure, clinical and technology services to more than 800 private practice physicians and other independent care providers including behavioral health specialists, was among Michigan four health care leaders to serve as panelists for Crain’s Detroit Business NEXT Health Care panel on June 21. The event included Crain’s annual health care heroes awards program.

The focus of the panel was what recent national and local health care mergers mean for Michigan. In addition to Matuszewski, panelists included Joan Budden, president and CEO of Priority Health, David Heffner, Vice President of Health Affairs for Wayne State University, and Wright Lassiter, CEO of Henry Ford Health System. The panel was moderated by Crain’s Detroit Business health care reporter, Jay Greene. Among the challenges of privately owned physician practices, Matuszewski noted, is the inability of private practice physicians to charge a facility fee for services, as hospitals and hospital-owned clinics do. She also cited the importance of considering the “4 Cs” of primary care when evaluating the impact of major healthcare mergers on patients.

“With the four c’s of primary care, we look at comprehensive, coordinated, caring and community. We cannot lose sight of these priorities in the shift to nationally-owned, rather than locally-owned, mega health systems,” Matuszewski said.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Matuszewski was selected for inclusion in the Crain’s Detroit Business inaugural Notable Women in Health Care list, featuring acclaimed women professionals from throughout Michigan working in the private and public sector, including physician organizations, hospitals, health plans and home health and mental health agencies.

The women healthcare professionals were selected based on their career accomplishments, community and non-profit involvement and mentorship of others in their field. Matuszewski’s profile for the Notable Women in Health Care, which is included in the June 18 issue of Crain’s Detroit Business, can be viewed here.
